The trophy is still warm, the celebrations are still fresh, and the champions are already lacing up for what comes next. Team Python Basketball are officially returning for Season 3 of Stevenage Fridays Basketball Club — and this time, we’re coming back as the team everyone wants to beat.

Defending What’s Ours

After that dominant 84-64 victory over the Trojans in the Papawis League Finals, Team Python earned the right to call themselves champions. But in basketball, a title doesn’t mean anything if you can’t back it up. Season 3 is where we prove that our championship run wasn’t a one-off — it was the start of something.

The target is on our backs now. Every team in the league will be gunning for us. And honestly? We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Roster Changes: Some Familiar Faces Move On

Every new season brings change, and Season 3 is no different. We have to announce that three of our squad members — CK, Steven, and Jerald — have decided to join other teams in the league ahead of the new campaign.

All three were part of what we built, and we wish them nothing but the best in their new colours. That said, basketball is basketball — we’ll see them on the court soon enough. When that day comes, it’ll be nothing but love before tip-off and nothing but competition after it.

We also want to acknowledge that Louise will not be returning for Season 3 due to other commitments. Louise was a valued part of our setup and we respect the decision completely. The door is always open if things change down the line.

The Big News: Brix Extends for Another Year

Now for the headline everyone’s been waiting for.

Brix’s contract has been extended for another year.

Brix celebrates his contract extension with Team Python for Season 3

The man himself — Brix commits to another year with Team Python.

This is massive. Brix has been one of the most consistent and impactful players in our squad, and securing his commitment for Season 3 was a top priority. His presence in the paint, his leadership on defence, and his ability to rise to the occasion in big moments make him exactly the kind of player you build a championship defence around.

The Twin Towers Stand Tall

With Brix confirmed, it means the partnership that fans have come to know and love remains intact: the twin towers of Mark and Brix.

If you watched the semi-finals against SlamDrunks — the defending champions at the time — you saw exactly what these two are capable of together. They dominated the paint, controlled the boards, and made life miserable for every opposition player who dared to drive inside. That 48-43 semi-final win was built on their defensive intensity and interior presence.

Having both of them back for Season 3 gives us a foundation that most teams in the league simply can’t match. The twin towers aren’t just a nickname — they’re a statement.

Leadership Returns: Coach JP Commits to Season 3

Championships aren’t just won by players — they’re built by the people who put in the work behind the scenes. That’s why we’re proud to confirm that Coach JP will be returning to lead Team Python for Season 3.

What makes this even more remarkable is the commitment it takes. JP drives two hours every week just to be at our games — a round trip that most people wouldn’t even consider. But that’s the kind of dedication that defines this programme. When your coach is willing to put in that level of effort before a single whistle is blown, it sets the standard for everyone else.

JP’s tactical awareness, his ability to get the best out of every player, and his calm leadership under pressure were all critical to our championship run. Having him back gives us continuity, stability, and the kind of coaching commitment that separates good teams from great ones.

Champions’ Dinner: The Team Celebrates Together

Before we look ahead, we took a moment to celebrate what we achieved. The team got together for a champions’ dinner — a chance to reflect on the journey, enjoy each other’s company, and toast to the season that was.
