Python Basketball Club today announced the formation of Python Seniors, a new Over 35s squad that will compete in the Hanover Basketball League (HBL) starting August 2026. The move marks the club's expansion from a single SFBC team into a multi-division basketball organisation.

From Generals to Python Seniors

The story behind Python Seniors begins with another team: the Generals.

The Generals were a competitive Over 35s squad in the HBL, led by TR Coyoca and Hansel Judilla. Last season, they came agonisingly close to ending the Wildcats' dominance, pushing the three-time champions to the limit before ultimately falling short.

Python Basketball Club saw what everyone else saw: a team with serious talent, real chemistry, and unfinished business.

The conversation started simply. Python offered support. The Generals brought their players, their experience, and their hunger. The result is Python Seniors — a squad of 17 experienced players, now backed by the infrastructure, culture, and winning mentality of Python Basketball Club.

The Generals didn't disappear. They evolved.

The Mission: Dethrone the Wildcats

The Wildcats have held the HBL Over 35s trophy for three consecutive seasons. They're the team everyone fears and nobody has been able to beat when it matters most.

Python knows something about dethroning champions.

When the SFBC Pythons entered the Stevenage Filipino Basketball Community league, they were the new team. No history. No reputation. By Season 2, they were champions — beating the reigning title holders to claim the trophy. They opened Season 3 with a 3-0 record and haven't looked back.

That same DNA now runs through Python Seniors. Different roster. Different league. Same mentality.

“The Wildcats have had the HBL trophy for three years. That's long enough. We're coming for it.”

Python Basketball Club: Two Teams, Two Leagues

With the addition of Python Seniors, Python Basketball Club now fields two competitive squads:

  • SFBC Pythons — Season 2 Champions. Defending the title in Season 3 (currently 3-0). Competing in the Stevenage Filipino Basketball Community league.
  • Python Seniors — Over 35s division. Entering the Hanover Basketball League in August 2026. 17 players strong.

The long-term vision extends beyond two teams. Plans are already in discussion for Junior Pythons and Baby Pythons programmes, building a pathway from grassroots youth basketball all the way through to senior competition.

Python isn't just a team anymore. It's a club.
